    A little help please..
My central heating was working spot on yesterday bur when I turned it on today only the upstairs rads will heat.
I checked to see if the pump is turning (spinning) & it is.

    I have a kerosene burner.

Any ideas what could be the problem.

    Thanks..

Yes. Check your motorized valve. Most likely in hot press or beside boiler. There is a manual override switch on it to open the circuit.

Don't use the manual override because you will possibly be sending a permenant live to the boiler telling it not to turn off. Take the head off the valve and turn the slot so it's in the on position

    Thanks for the help above.

I had a look at the motorised valve which is fitted in a very awkward position.
When I put my finger on the little slide switch to move it from auto to manual it just fell out in my hand. ( Its about 20 years old)
I tried taking the cover off ( I had the power turned off) but one of the slot screws has one side broken off. ......
I think this is a job for tomorrow.

Is it ok to turn boiler on to heat upstairs rads..

    Thanks.

    Thanks for the help..
The heating is working away on the manual side of he motorised valve as suggested infact the house seems warmer since the change over..
The question now is do I actually need a motorised valve at all.
The boiler in this house heats the immersion and rads at the same time so its basically an all on or all off set up.
    Thanks.
