2 weeks in Southern Spain

    Hi
We're flying to Malaga at the end of July and back to Ireland two weeks later. We're travelling with our two children aged 4 and 1.
We were going to spend the two weeks in benalmedena, but now we are thinking of spending one week there and one week somewhere else.
We've never holidayed in the South of Spain before, so aren't sure which areas are family friendly and which ones are more party areas.
    Is Marbella suitable for families?
I think fuengerola is more of a party town?
So any suggestions about where in the South of Spain would be suitable to bring two young kids would be much appreciated. Feel free to recommend any particular resorts that you think would be good.

    Thanks in advance

There's surfing, etc. in and around Tarifa. Much more laid back vibe, more villagey. Going the other side, you've Nerja and beyond. Both within 1.5 hours reach of Malaga.

Fuengirola is definitely NOT a "party town". It's our "go to" location when we go down to that part of Spain. It's a big town with lots of facilities - shops, restaurants, medical (if needed), Bioparc (upmarket zoo), water park (pools, slides, etc), transport links (local buses, commuter train to Malaga that stops at the airport, and a bus station for doing the day trips to Marbella, Ronda, Gibraltar etc).
There's lots of different types of accommodation (hostels, hotels, apartments), but with two small children, I'd suggest looking at the Fuengirola Beach Apartments, and the Hotel Myramar (which has apartments). Both are large complexes with kiddy pools as well as main pools.
If you are able to avail of car rental, that opens up a lot more possibilities for sightseeing, e.g Granada and Cadiz (daytrips, or maybe an overnight).

    :)
