Hi everyone, exciting times ahead! We're hoping to book our honeymoon in the January sales. We' re getting married Dec 12th and would love a fun sun holiday. We're not loaded so we won't be spending a fortune.. Carribean cruise was suggested and it sounds good, but we're confused with all the different options and worried about potential added expenses! Any advice would be great!! Even alternative destinations! Thanks so much :)

A cruise is a really great idea!! It allows you to see a lot of the area without having to pack up and move yourself around a ton of times. I live in Florida and I've gone on loads of cruises because it's easier than flying all over the place because so many leave from Florida.

My advice is to take a ship that leaves from a Florida port, like Cape Canaveral near orlando, Fort Lauderdale, or Miami. Aer lingus usually has some great direct flights to and from Orlando, especially in the winter. Most cruises include all the food, but several of the lines will nickel and dime you with other stuff. Like, disney cruises (my favorite and I don't have any kids, the service is outstanding) including pretty much everything including soft drinks, except alcohol. Other cruise likes like carnival and royal Caribbean will charge you extra when you want a coke, or have a "soda package" you can buy. But every single ship is different. I and my friends love disney. Not many people I know like carnival, and I have a few friends that swear by royal caribbean. I know Norwegian is nice too.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask!!

We booked through Caribbean cruise with tour America and I couldn't recommend them enough. You can pay a deposit and then have a bit of time to gather up the rest of money. The girl got us a deal that had a full drinks package, room with balcony, gratuities included and transfers to/from airport and it was brilliant. Was included in original price quoted if we paid deposit before certain date.
Some people are not fans of going through agent but it was grand for us because we went to New York first, few nights in Orlando and then cruise from Fort Lauderdale.
We absolutely loved it and are looking into a Mediterranean one for anniversary

Gosh, didn't even know you could take a Disney cruise! Will definitely give them a look! I suppose the fear definitely is all the potential added extras!! Thanks so much for the advice.. Will let you know how we get on! :)

The Disney cruise left the port in Jamaica when we were docked there and the horns on the ship plays the Disney theme tune. Fabulous!

My hubby and I went on a one week cruise with royal Caribbean for our honeymoon. Loved, loved, loved it. That will be five years ago next July. We have been saving for ages and recently booked at 16 day cruise with them for next july! Can't wait! We plan on doing this every five years forever

Disney is absolutely my favorite cruise line by far! I don't have any kids, but like I said, living in Orlando and having been on many cruises, Disney is mine and my friends/family's absolute favorite. They do cost a bit more sometimes, but the service and the extras that are included usually make it well worth it IMHO. Caribbean cruises are usually 7 nights, so if you're looking to do more than that, you could do a cruise & stay package and you could stay at Disney World for a few days before your cruise. They also have a UK phone line that books for UK and European guests in £, but I heard that in January or February they will also be booking in € for Irish Guests as well. They do air, land, and sea packages too! Check out the disneyholidays website.

Like someone else recommended, I also hear that royal caribbean is nice. I've never cruised on them myself, but I have friends that swear by them.
