Loose tooth repair - how much?

Sorry in advance if i get some of the basic 'terms' wrong here, i'm about as far from a dentist as one can get.

Felt a slight pain in my gum around the area of one of my back teeth a few days ago

Now today, i discovered the tooth in question is a little on the loose side. (pain gone)

I believe it's still fairly secure, however there is a little wiggle in it.

It's just after Xmas, we went a bit mad on the kids presents this year, so cash flow is a little restricted at the moment.

    So two questions:

Are there any home cures? Some people seem to think these things can fix themselves after a while, maybe by brushing your teeth/gums with something?

If i do go to a dentist to get this fixed... What cost am i looking at?

The questions are poorly phrased, i know. So thanks for being patient with me.
