"Lost" Zyxel Modem

    My internet access is OK. I used to be able to access the modem but now neither my iMac Yosemite or MacBook Snow Leopard can connect to the Zyxel modem. This is on Safari, Chrome and Firefox.
    Safari message is"safari can't connect to the server.
    Any suggestions about what could have changed?
    I'm using 192.168.1.245 as always.

    Have you powercycled your modem / router? Turn it off for 30 seconds and back on, wait until you can get online and try again.

    Lack of progress report. Two days ago I followed the advice to turn it off for 30", I previously been doing it for 10" with no luck.
    Lo and behold I could log in to the modem. However, I could access all the pages except for connection status, which is the one I wanted.
    But this morning no joy at all. I tried turning it off several times, including one pause of 5 minutes.
    Other devices that don't access the modem include an iPad and a Dell PC.
    I suppose it is time to get a new one.

    If with eircom

    the problem is the dns server cache list has timed out

    to fix

    log into modem

    go to network settings > home networking > set dns server setting from dynamic to obtain from isp. click apply

    next go to network settings > broadband > set dns servers to static and enter 159.134.0.1 and 159.134.0.2 click apply

    your modem will no longer use the buggy cache list but rather poll the dns servers directly

    OK, but the problem is I can't log into the modem in the first place.
