Highlights of 2014

What are people's standout favourite moments of the year gone by?

It's been an incredible year for our national teams but in terms of an absolute 'wow' moment, the ladies win over the Black Ferns must be the highlight for me.

That win in Paris is a close second but not for the result. We have won championships before and will win them again, but in my view we may never see the likes of Brian O Driscoll on this island again and to see him go out on such a high was moment that will last a long time.

    Anybody feel differently?

    Progression if connacht

National team playing consistent smart rugby

    Women's rugby

    20's team getting stronger

    7's getting going (slowly)

Ireland winning the Six Nations was easily the highlight for me.

Kudos to the Women's team and to the U20s for a successful JWC particularly with such a young squad.

Oh and seeing a 2nd/3rd string Ulster side beating Munster in Thomond following the howls of derision at the team selection was pretty satisfying!

I think it was specifically the game against Wales. That was when I began to properly believe this Scmidt ball thing was gonna take off with the national side.

6ft 8in, 19 stone Scottish second row Jim Hamilton telling the ref that he had to stand up for himself after a but of a tussle in the Ireland Scotland game!

    For me.

    The 6 Nations title.

    BOD's performance against Italy.

Finally beating South Africa when no one gave us a rat's chance with Henshaw showing there will be life after BOD.

dont like toulon as they are one of the clubs ruining rugby but was happy to see wilkinson finish on a high. A class individual.

The 6Ns is the obvious highlight followed by the successes of the women's rugby team.

    Womens world cup performances
    improvement in Connacht performances
    20s world cup
AIL top flight last season going to the final round
Waterford getting its first player to play for the Munster senior team in around 20 years was a nice highlight as well

Dave Kearney putting pressure on the final pass to stop France from scoring. Instant irish legend.

He's is slagged unfairly in my opinion as he's a fairly tidy player overall.

Women's performance versus the ferns, a culmination of years of good performances.

Highlanders exceeding all expectations last season. Landers / saders game was one of the games of the season.

The super xv final was a truly excellent game.

The six nations win and the final hurrah for bod, leaving on a high as our best 13 ever.

The November international series performances which deservedly cemented third spot ranking... especially the aussie performance.

Sexton being the best 10 in the world for the season.

The pro 12 win at the rds and the performance versus glasgow.

The recognition of big dev eventually as a top class international lock.

Some of my highlights of 2014.

The Barbarians playing the bloody Barbarians and almost toppling the Wallabies!
