I have a CZ455 thumbhole with the 20" barrel and was thinking of getting it cut to 16". Should have got 16" to be honest as the 20" is long and awkward. Can anyone suggest a good gunsmith that ye have experience with and roughly how much I'd be talking.

It's illegal to cut a rifle barrel below 20" or 50 cm.

Section 12(a) as Amended by Section 65 of 2006 Firearms Act.

“Shortening barrel of shot-gun or rifle.

12A.— (1) Subject to subsection (2), a person who shortens the barrel of—
(a) a shot-gun to a length of less than 61 centimetres, or

(b) a rifle to a length of less than 50 centimetres,

is guilty of an offence.
