If you a 58cm frame you can get it for much cheaper here. Add another 75 euro for postage.

    http://www.bikelineshop.de/fahrraeder/cervelo/cervelo-s2-shimano-154.html

They are very reputable, official Cervelo dealers.

    +1

Shipping was €10 from them. Got my R3 dark edition from them, can't be happier. If you're not looking specifically for an aero bike I'd strongly recommend this model. Only one left!

You currently are getting an extra 10% off with the "SAVE10" code at Slane Cycles, plus delivery will be free. Also if anything does go wrong they are just up the M1....

I bought a bike from them a few years ago. The price was very good, also great service and no complains.

They're terrible to deal with though. Great bikes and the best of gear but very rude, defensive when asking about different bikes and they have little time for you if you're just going to have a look at a few bikes. I wouldnt go back near them. Every time I mention their name around home I hear a similar story about them.

The R3 Dark Edition is rumoured to be an R5 frameset sold as an R3. Insider info confirms this. Certainly a bargain whichever way you look at it, especially at this price

I have always been treated with the utmost respect by them. In fact even though they are based 100 miles or so away they are the one shop I would consider as my "LBS" by reference to the quality of service I always get from them be it face to face or online.

If you are wasting their time why would they entertain you?

Wasting their time by looking to spend near £3k on a bike? I did buy a bike off them but I won't be going back to them. If you are buying over the phone or on the internet I would say they would be good. Their shop is excellent and as I said before they have the best of gear. The fellas that work there are good lads but the two owners were very ignorant and rude the couple of times I have been in. Compared to my other local bike shops their service is terrible.

To be fair there aren't many who walk into a store with cash in hand and ready to buy. A salesman shouldnt be just there to take cash and hand over bikes. As they say every person through the door is a potential sale either now or later and browsing asking questions is all part of it.

I agree but there is a big difference between looking at a few bikes and actively considering a purchase. Windows shopping is one thing. Buying is another

Going from what Jim wrote of his experience, to sum that up as wasting the store owners' time would seem pretty bizarre to me. And anyone who would look at someone coming into a store & looking & asking a few questions about the merchandise - particularly expensive stuff - as a time waster not worth being polite to really shouldn't be in a one-to-one retail environment.

I'm not talking about how good or bad Slane Cycles may be, just the scenario & attitude described by Jim.

Last time I was in there I was chatting with Paul and then Andy for more than half an hour. When someone came in they dealt with them in a courtious manner and after they had been dealt with we got back to our natter. They obviously know me by first name, and during my time in the shop Paul made me a coffee (as well as one for the mechanic) and we all merrily chatted about all sorts of things including my crash, Paul's father in law;), the "McQuaid brigade", some CI "issues" - couldn't come across a friendlier bunch and Jim's comments were the first time I've ever heard anything particularly negative about the place

Now I accept I am a pretty good customer of theirs, but nothing is too mcuh trouble for them in my experience. I've never asked for any discount in-shop, but they Paul or Andy pretty much offer me some whenever I'm buying something

I actually had to drag myself away from the place last time I was in - and all the custom they got from me that day was some bar tape

Whatsoever ye do unto the least of my brothers.

Any shop can fawn over a regular, multi-cervelo buyer. True test of a shop imo is how they treat potential potential customers. Read that as time - wasters if you will but I'm sure people have better things to do with their time. It's not like cold-calling sales. If a fella goes out of his way to drive to your shop then he's a potential customer. The shop's job is to be nice to him, answer his questions and sell him a bike!

I didn't mean this to turn into a thread about slanes. My uncle and I happened to have a several bad experiences in their shop but I am sure they have a lot of happy customers as well. One of my mates hates going to my favourite local sports store for the same reasons that I don't like going to slanes. Their online sales of cervelo bikes is unreal so I'm sure they won't lose any sleep over losing a customer like me anyway.

Arguably wasting my own time, yes, but they were genuinely happy to discuss a few things with me and as everyone knows around here I'm more than happy to oblige particularly when it comes to regaling the story of my crash (which they had heard quite a bit about but never realised it was me involved!):P
