Has the internet made impulse buying of used cars a thing of the past ?

it must be said that the internet has made used car buying much easier. however the thing is you have to have a good idea of what car you want to buy first and you have to have in mind to buy a car already. remember when cars were advertised in the newspapers or buy and sell, you could be browsing the paper and then just spot a bargain in the classifieds.

i used to look forward to the sunday business post motoring ads where alot of the high end used car dealers advertised their stock. i am sure many cars were sold to people just browsing through the papers with no pland to change cars.

the thing is if you have a rare car and want it to get noticed by an impulsive buyer , the internet isnt going to be much use ?

these days only one dealer Paul Tobin ltd. advertises regularly in the business post , selling mostly late model high end used vehicles . its obviously well worth his while advertising . so why arent other dealers who sell used vehicles which arent for sale on every street corner not advertising in newspapers ?

It's much better nowadays imo with the likes of donedeal. At least with pictures you'll have some idea of the car's condition. With the likes of the buy&sell all you had was a description to go on.

Because nobody buys newspapers these days, apart from you.

Id have thought the internet would have INCREASED impulse buying

After all instead of simply "08 Audi A4 2.0 TDI 170 - new model, high spec - leather climate - fully Audi service history - €xxxx call Janet on 085 XXXXXXX" - all of which means not a lot when mixed up with other Audis and other cars.

Janet now has nice pictures of her Audi looking nice and shiny with nice leather interior - and your thinking - this is nice*

She can also expand MUCH MORE on her car

"Im selling my Audi A4 due to a pending new arrival in the family meaning I need a people carrier.

Its a 2.0 TDi 170 and being the NEWER model it has the common rail version of the 2.0 tdi - much more refined and reliable then the older 2.0 TDI. Ive had the car from new - and ive put up 100,000 kms on it - its always being regularly serviced with an Audi main dealer with full receipts to prove.

Its got a nice spec with leather seats (front seats are heated), electric sunroof, climate control, top spec bosh sound system with 10 speakers and much much more.

Its an SE but this does mean better ride comfort on smaller wheels and no sports suspension - it still drives lovely without sports suspension

Just had timing belt and other bits done - about 1,000 euro worth of work done at an Audi dealer.

4 new continental tyres fitted 6 weeks ago

    Much more tempting

This thread would definitely disprove this theory:

I defy you to read it and not at least want to buy a car! :D
