Jury service for shift worker?

If one works weekdays, weekends & evenings & is called for jury service, is one expected to attend court Monday to Friday, work as usual Saturday & Sunday, then return to court again Monday?
What about evening shifts? Attend court during the day & work that evening?
Obviously an employer will want an employee at work when not in court, given they will be paying them as usual.
I'm aware an employer is required to release an employee for jury service but unsure what happens in the above case.

    TIA :)

To the best of my knowledge, time spent doing jury service is considered to be time "at work" for all intents and purposes - i.e. you continue to earn holiday entitlements, etc.

So if you are actually attending jury service for that whole week, your employer will be required to ensure you have an adequate rest period before resuming your shift.

    Thanks for the reply.

I have sought confirmation from the court involved by phone & followed up in writing. Unfortunately, it is still not clear.
It has been said that it is possible the juror could end up working/attending court every day for 17 consecutive days, without a day off. On some days, the juror could be expected to attend court in the morning & then work that evening, say from 4pm to 12am.

In this case the juror ordinarily works some weekdays/evenings & every weekend. For example, work Friday evening, Saturday, Sunday, court Monday to Friday morning, work Friday evening, Saturday, Sunday repeat the following week etc....

Any opinions on this or details of who to contact for a definitive answer?
It would seem that anyone working shifts or in retail (weekends etc.) would be precluded from jury service if this is the case.
