The Guardian's favourite 50 Sport pics -2014

    Great list.

Not to be too parochial about it, and i'm not offended or anything. But i'm mildly surprised given the increased coverage in the UK that the Guardian didn't find one GAA pic to include in their 50. Maybe there wasn't as many people watching it as joe.ie with their constant twitter reaction updates led me to believe.

Thinking back to that Kilkenny Limerick semi-final with the heaviest raindrops ever, some seriously epic images came out of that one game, what a slog.

Obviously i'm biased as a kilkennyman but maybe also the sport lends itself as a good subject, but i am always seriously impressed with the images that come out of the big GAA matches, hurling in particular more than other sports.

That's from someone with zero clue about sports photography, i've never tried it but i do harbour an ambition to cover some boxing at some stage- maybe 2015 will bring that.

I wasn't particularly impressed with them, the exception being the Pat Healy shot.

I thought the vast majority were very good.

Some decent ones in there. You can't beat the rain in some of the GAA shots (I'm not a GAA head either) but I wouldn't be getting overly excited about the majority of them.

All three sets are superb, I am biased, but I think the Irish ones have the edge!

Agree also. We are blessed everytime we open a paper or magazine here with sports shots from Irish shooters. I think the Irish sets are better than the Guardian
