Got a new bottom door hinge for the driver's side of my Audi A4 as the old one is worn and the door is sagging a bit. The fellas in Audi Naas differed on wether I could bolt this straight on or if I had to paint it first. It looks like there is a coating on it but I'm not sure. Anyone any idea if I could just bolt it straight on? I'll be keeping it oiled anyways!

Thats a Zinc Chromate coating, its applied on top of galvanising to make it more durable.
    Fit and forget.

you should throw a lick over it anyway for the sake of keeping the car tidy :) even if you only matte black it, it would blend in much better in the door jamb?

I agree that's akwatlys a good thing to do even just for visual.
Op most motor factors stock rattle cans and can match pretty close if not exact only about 10e

You need special primer to paint Zinc Chromate, ordinary rattle can paint will just flake off leaving you with a shabby looking hinge.
