I placed an Ad on Done Deal and got a text from a UK number to email "my mom" if the car was still available. When I emailed "Rose Foster", here is an extract from her response : ".......I am buying it locally here as a gift for my son that is studying in United Arab Emirates for his great performance in his study. I am at sea at the moment as i am an Oceanographer and due to the nature of my work, phone calls is restricted......blah blah .... Paypal etc........". I strung her along for a few days and when I asked her how her son would manage a Right Hand Drive car in a country that drives on the Right Hand Side, there was silence. If they are still operating this Scam, then people must be falling for it. Sellers Beware.

Ah that old chestnut. I remember the fella wanting mine was working in Norway , living in Scotland and needed the car delivered to Paris as he spent summer there. Was going to give me an extra 4000 Euro too as it was the best 98 astral he had seen ever :pac:

I statyed emailing them back a few years ago, the last time i had a car for sale.
Kept asking them what they worked at exactly and what qualifications were needed as i wanted to do their job too.....seeing as they earned enough money to buy a car for their nephew, for more than the proper value!!
    Oh to be so rich!!

Speaking of scams. When ye were selling did ye get a call of an English company saying they had a buyer for the car? They were going to charge 100euro and then put me in touch with this buyer. They must catch some people

A colleague was selling recently and he told me he got a call from an English company.(which he didn't fall for)
Thats clearly a quick money scam, small amount but get enough to make a few thousand. Plus the genuine person involved probably feels a little daft after and it's never reported/investigated.

Did you supply your account number and sort code? It's imperative that you send these details. That poor widow is probably sitting in the bank waiting on your details and you just left her there. Poor widow.

I got a similar email when selling a Peugeot 306 couple of years ago....it got damaged on the ice of the winter 2009. Yet still they wanted it shipped off to Germany.....only problem she only had one cheque left in her book so she sent me 4500 euro in a "cheque" for me to lodge and then the send the remainder by western union to the "shipper"

Hehehe....but I scammed the scammer.....and said that Western Union wanted 60 euro in fees to send the monies.......and after a lot of arguing and persuasion....this scammer sent me 60 euro by western Union!
