Fashion Advice Needed. Feeling Frumpy and Clueless.

Hey, I'm in a bad need for fashion advise. I'm fed up feeling frumpy all the time (my normal attire is baggy shapeless pj bottoms and long sleeve t-shirts when at home, replace the pj bottoms with ill fitting jeans when outdoors) but I'm completely clueless about what would suit me.

I'm 27, 5'6" and a 34G, (40" bust), maybe a UK size 14/16 (34" waist and 40"/42" hips) with an inside leg of 30". I've also been told that I have high hips if that makes any sense.
All this information is almost useless to me as I can never find anything that works for my body's shape.

I've practically given up at finding anything nice that I can afford (unemployed).

Can you give me any advice on what kind of clothes would suit me that is within a reasonable price range. I like Gothic, Hippy, Rock Chick and Vintage styles of clothing but I've always been afraid they wouldn't suit me.

Any advise at all would be greatly appreciated.

How's about trying this - Just get out there on numerous days; walk into varying shops/stores; just experiment in styles, shapes & colours and make a note of sizings etc that you find work for you. You need not buy right now, and some places might even take deposits.

Just ensure you give yourself time to try a decent variety before you spend your monies though,
I also Hope you feel better about yourself again soon. There is something about clothes-shopping that can be annoying imo, yet liberating at the same time, especially when you find something new that you like :)

    Just my thoughts,

A-line skirts and dresses would be quite flattering on your shape - if you like vintage styles, 50s style dresses (Lindy Bop/Lady V London etc) are great for creating a defined waist and skim nicely over your hips. Wear something like that with a nice pair of heels.

My friend was in a similar situation, she hadn't a clue what to wear or what worked for her shape. Any time we went window shopping I picked out outfits that I thought would suit her and made her try them on even if she didn't think they would look good on her or if she picked up one thing she liked I handed her 5 others and told her she was getting stripped anyway so she may as well try them on. Eventually & sometimes reluctantly she learned what styles suit her... It took a while but now she is way more confident in her wardrobe choices and herself!
So my point is, go window shopping, be open-minded, try on loads of outfits and learn that way what looks good & if you have a friend that you trust will give you an honest opinion, bring her along :)
