    Hey Guys,

    Need some advice please I an wondering if my current rig is salvageable at all or if a new build is warranted.

    Main board = ASrock P67 Extreme 4;
    Processor = Intel® Core™ i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz;
    Ram = 8GB of Corsair ram DDR3;
    Graphics card = 3 GB GFX card GTX 580;
    Hdd 1 = Corsair solid state (128,GB)
    Hdd 2 = 1TB

    Looking to play elite and dangerous at decent rate, current monitor is 24" so not to bad from that side.

    Was thinking of upgrading the graphics card do a nvidia 970 but I am not so sure what upgrades I could do.

    What do you guys think.

    GTX 970 - good choice.
    Bigger SSD - if you need/want one. MX100s from Crucial are great.
    CPU cooler - depending on what you have now, etc.

    Mx100s going for great prices right now. My brother had a 256GB model delivered for 80 euro on a deal recently from Amazon, amazing value.

    With a 2500k a any half decent cooler ahould get you 4.5ghz plus overclocks which will lefthen the CPUs lifespan even more.

    And the 970 is a great choice right now...

    Any recommendation, i think the one i have we tried to OC before but she wasnt stable much past what i have now.

    Is the upgrade on the SSD worth it, doesnt seem like a huge jump?

    How did you try overclock it? Only reason I'm asking is anyone familiar with overclocking from older CPU's may automatically try FSB overclocking rather than multiplier. That would lead to massive instability alright.

    I didnt try, one of my buddies did it who would be pretty familiar with it. Can't remember the name of the program he used.

    Unless you want a new case or something, I honestly would just get a 970 and call it a day, machine is solid otherwise.

    Other options would be more/better case fans, closed loop watercooler, stuff like that.
