Is Cavan dvo the worst office in Ireland? Got left hanging on the phone recently and I eventually hung up and called again. So lads and ladies in your experience which section of dept of ag food and marine and (forestry?) is the most inefficient, ignorant and worst to deal with?

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Always found Galway DVO to be great to be honest, straight to the point and get the paperwork out quick if you need it quick, and I'm not one for praising the Dept too often :D

alot of the time I think it depends who you are talking to. Then I suppose they actually have to answer for you to be talking to them

    Would agree with that.
But any dealings I've had with em, i found them good enough to deal with to be fair.

Transfer section, most infuriating state arm I've ever dealt with

All other section I've no bother

Drumshanbo is our local office and they are friendly and helpful to deal with especially the ladies who normally answer the phone.
Had a nightmare dealing with Portlaoise when my Uncle passed away 8 years ago. After many phone calls, emails and letters sent, I eventually got through to a lovely lad who was very helpful. He even gave me his direct phone number. Only for him I would be bald from pulling my hair out.

I use that office aswell and like that there's one lady I ask for now every time I call. Some of the others are a complete waste of time. There's another side to it too, I was in the vets yesterday and there was this older farmer who was adamant he wanted to get heifers tested and blooded in the mart cause he wanted to sell them that exact day, all the explaining in the world couldn't get it through to him that results had to be waited for. The only time anyone rings them is when there's a problem I would say that has to put them in bad form.

Agree with you there. They are always helpful in Drumshanbo. So much so that they have even got me alternative numbers to ring for other offices that don't answer phones (portlaois)

some of the people that go into the dvo are not nice people either, a lot have made the problem themself and think they have the right to have it sorted there and then.was in the dvo two years ago and the guy in front of me was mad as a nest of wasps as the girl could not register 20 late calves that day as he wanted to go to the mart two days later to sell and they were all over six months late and she telling him to go to his vet first and get them stamped and then bring them in to her and she would sort ,if what this guy said to the girl at the counter was said at home to his wife he would have had to get rid of the dog for his new bedroom.
