    Hi folks,

so my fiancée was coming home from work last evening, on a narrow country road with traffic coming against her, hit a rock and fecked the front left wheel. The car behind her also fecked his front wheel.

I have been on to Honda about getting a genuine replacement, €500 new.

I'm now on the hunt on eBay and scrap yards, any help or suggestions on where to contact would be greatly appreciated.

Has anyone ever used this guy in Cork? How did you get on etc?

Could have been worse, at least no injuries. What Honda is it from?

Out of interest how old was the tyre and what make is it?

You should also have a look on Donedeal, either the wheels section or cars being dismantled, here's 4 from an Accord for €200 on Donedeal:

The tyre is about 3 months old, Pirelli Cinturato p7.

    What size is it?

17" wheel, Genuine alloy from a 2009 Honda Civic Type S.

Out of curiosity: is it not up to local authorities to keep a road safe to drive on?

    I'd consider a claim.

It is up to the local authority to maintain roads, however the driver has what's called a duty of care to drive using caution and to be aware of potential Hazards. You might have a case if you can prove the pothole was reported to the council otherwise there is little hope.

The odds of getting any compo off the council are slim to none. My brother ripped a tire off his car a few years back because he rolled over a roadworks sign that was knocked over. It was dark and he didn't see it till the last second.

With a claim I think your success it dependent on the council being aware of the issue if it was reported previously to them by another motorist and they failed to act on it and repair the road.

Did you have a look on donedeal? You could pick a set of cheap alloys up maybe?
