Has anyone got eircom efibre? What is the procedure for installing the new modem? If it is being left inn thhe same place do they have to make holes for new socket. I havevphone too and have the filters. There will be no filter with efibre?

Do they have to work on your pc to set it up

If it was like my install, one guy will be in and out in half an hour. If you have a landline and therefore an existing internet port, he will replace it with a new one. It will be much neater as there is no need for microfilters.

In terms of your PC, your new router will have a new SSID which you will have to login to. Simple as that really...

    I can do that myself?

I have a landline and this . The thing i am concerned about is if the new internet port means having to make a hole in the wall? Will the socket be bigger than the one i linked?

Has anyone evision. I read the tv slows the internet

The new NTU is a fatter version of the old one, but uses the same screws and back plate in the wall. Its a screw off screw on jobbie, no taking a saw to the wall! It does have to go at the master socket though, which is usually the halllway or sitting room.

Evision is IPTV, same way using youtube will consume some bandwidth so will it.

Judging by the fact your current set up involves filters, you will get a new larger socket at the minimum. Its hard to say what would be required with an efibre install as some houses need additional wiring, some just require a new socket. Depends how extensions are connected, also depends on quality of cable serving main socket, some other factors come into play as to whether new wiring has to be installed. Very few houses are alike in terms of wiring set up. In relation to evision, yes having it takes some bandwidth from internet use. Having said that, bandwidth even with evision is greatly improved as opposed to what you currently have. Most complaints re bandwidth are from users that scrutinise online internet speed tests and complain rightly or wrongly that eircom didn't inform them that evision reduced bandwidth. In terms of bandwidth available with evision installed, there is more than enough than what is needed to be honest.
