I bought these muddy fox spd boots on sportsdirect last year for about 25 quid. They are nothing special, but perfectly fine. I use mine for racing cross. They have studs and good soles for gripping muddy hills. I would advise getting something with studs for cyclocross tho.

    How is the crosscheck going?

thanks folks, but 44 is definitely too big.

@Lennymc 25 quid for a pair of shoes is not bad, thanks. I was also looking at the dhb M1.0 for 40 quid

As for the Cross Check I did my first commute yesterday with it, in the rain and without mudguards...
I was destroyed, but loved the smoothness of steel... I'm very happy with it!

I'm a 43 and the Shimano 44 fit perfectly, bike shoes sizing can be a bit funny, I'm 43 in my Mavics.

    I'm a 41,5/42 and the 43 fits perfectly in my case :)

The shame of it... I didn't build it in the end. I went to the bike shop to fit BB and headset and he convinced me not to do it, but I'm very happy with it anyway. I will use my old Genesis as a learning ground instead :D
I'm still waiting for some fatty WTB Nano Comp 40c to come my way...
I'll take some pics tomorrow and post!
Here's the pic I took yesterday after getting drenched without mudguards...

Would that be about 8.5-9 in old money? I have a pair of Shimano MTB shoes used once or twice but I think they're a 44. Not sure which model but could be these. Will fish them out if you're still looking/interested.
