3 Club Competition

Anyone ever played in one or played a round with just 3 clubs?
Did it once with two of my mates just for 9 holes, shot a surprisingly good score considering.

Really makes you think about your shots and how to play them. Good for improving course management as you have to plot your way around and lay up a lot.

    Clubs I used;
    5 wood (putted with it)
    7 Iron
    Sand wedge.

Good fun for a round and something different to conventional golf and I felt it helped me see the game differently.

We used to have it in my club but it never seems to happen anymore.

I would like to give it a go sometime if it ever came back

My clubs of choice would probably be:

    3 Wood
    7 Iron
    Sand Wedge

Played one in Corballis a few weeks ago, good fun. 5 iron, 9 iron and putter. Same as most other players. Course is a bit shorter though so may be a better fit for this format...when not windy!

    What's battle golf??

I haven't played in a 3 club competition, but its something I'd really like to try...

Either one v one or two v two and its matchplay. Who ever wins the hole takes a club from the other team. If a hole is halved and carried on to next winner can take two clubs etc... (one club per player)

If you are down a hole and club you can either take your club back or one velonging to the other team. You can put restrictions on if you like such as you can't take putters but its more fun that way.

Sounds like fun on a winter's morning, although I can't see the "serious" golfers flocking to it much...
