Nice to read something nice about my adopted home. :-)

One thing that is noticeable is the love that former Limerick college students have of Limerick. The vast majority speak well of Limerick afterwards, particularly when the usual narrative and nicknames get trotted out by some people.

And there's a lot of non rugby fans on here that will love that there is nothing about rugby in it and its still a very good review!

The rugby and the passion for it among many of the people of Limerick is a good thing, but it is pushed way too much as the defining characteristic of the city. In truth, the main defining characteristics are the heritage, the Shannon River and the people.

It's also not very smart to keep banging the 'rugby' drum, as it appeals to a fairly narrow demographic internationally. The bewildered looks on most visitors faces as we proclaim we are so passionate about rugby is a sight to behold. It's nice, but it doesn't mean too much to most non-rugby people.
