2009 Ford Mondeo estate - NCT on rear axle and wishbone bushes

Was up getting the NCT done tonight. And was advised it was failed on the rear axle and wishbone bushes and it was a known fault with the car.

I don't like the words "known fault". Makes me think its a 600 quid as opposed to a €200 job. Can anyone remove my concerns?

Find an independant garage with the tool for fitting bushings. If you go to a dealer they can only supply complete arms which is a lot more expensive.

Anyone know a garage that has this fitting tool? Think its FLST100 from First Line.

Sorry, you are most correct, viewing on a phone so misread. Carry on.

Actually, would any garage with a hydraulic press not suffice

Nope. Because there is a chance they could just snap the original arm. Putting me back in the same position of having to buy the whole unit.

    rear bushings? right

i failed the NCT for the same thing 2 years ago.

    priced ford.
was told, they dont actually just do the bushings, they only do the whole arm, at a cost of €350 per side. excluding fitting,

went on to talkford as i usually do, and found at the time most people were buying the bushings on ebay and getting them fitted, or doing a DIY fit.

at the time the only supplier was in latvia, and had the original lemforder part. i had them home here at i think was around €70, and got a local garage to fit them no bother. i think they charged around 150/200.

so 250/270 i had the job done and nct passed the retest.

i had a look there on ebay, and u have tonnes now to pick from, obviously more cars now need them, i was probably one of the earlier ones, ive a 08 with good milage.

now im assuming ford still dont do the bushing on its own, and if thats the case this is your only way out. way cheaper if you ask me.

as for the common fault, i read that over time frost and just general wear and tear basacilly broke down the rubber on the existing bushings hence why your replacing them.

ive just had my 2nd nct, and passed flying colours. so they stood the 2 yrs.

had a look on my ebay account to find the guy i got them from,

had a nice drawing of the arm etc. and where the bushin is.

he still has them, but plenty in UK now and seem a bit cheaper to.

Thanks. But just under time pressure at this stage with Xmas coming up and having to get a retest. So would prefer not to have to order in a part personally.
