Need advice on how to ask a guy out?

This is going to sound ridiculous but here it goes. I am 24 and since I was 16 I have been in a relationship with the one guy. We split up a year ago but I am ready to move on. I recently started a new job recently in a shop and every day theres this guy that comes in on his lunch break. He works around the corner. I think he is gorgeous but also seems really friendly and good fun. All I know is his name, where he works and where hes from but He knows my two work colleagues. We only talk brief small talk when he's in as I am incredibly shy and aware of my colleague beside me. I know it sounds so childish but I would really like to get to know him more but don't know how I should approach him or say or do! Any advice or tips for me? Thanks!

Its hard to know without being there and seeing the chemistry between you two. YOu think that he is interested in you?

Maybe increase the chit chat for a while more before making the move. On lets say a Friday if he comes in you could say 'what are a ya up to for the weekend?' - get a little more personal each time.

Then when you feel comfortable you could bring it up with something along the lines of 'so are ya ever gonna ask me out?' and a smile might work?

if your friendly enough with your colleagues you could ask them to leave the area for a minute when he comes in.

Tell him you are entering regular customers for a christmas draw and you need his name and contact number.

Then text him and tell him he has won and gets to take you out on a date.

If a girl did that i would be blown away

Well I chat fairly well with one colleague and he is always talking to him and he knows everyone that comes in so u was going to subtly ask him more about him (I kind of do this anyway) and see what info I get! If I got a surname I was going to add him on FB? But then this would look very immature too.

Well seen as you mentioned the phone number, he had to fill out a book for an order of something last week (my colleague done this) but I seen him writing his number into it!!! But I don't have the courage to use it ha

I would go the route of asking him what he's doing for the weekend etc. and getting to know him better. Be flirty and judge his reaction. A lot easier than sending him a text message out of the blue.. If he likes you too that would be great but could make for some awkward interactions if he says no or is seeing someone else etc.

    Good luck :)

Er, do you know if he is already attached? Find that out first, and if he is, then leave well enough alone.

I'd be a little wary of using his mobile number for anything other than the reason he submits it ... could be construed as being overly familiar and a bit cheeky.

He might think it's cute and react well but it's not very professional.

And neither should you use it, it wasn't given to you. If I gave my number for a purpose like that and it was used for another purpose, I'd be livid and making a complaint. Don't jeopardise both whatever chance you have with him and your job by taking the number from the book, when it's not that difficult to talk to him and get it the right way.

I can't see him calling the Data Protection Commisioners on you if you were to text him. Some people here just love to overreact.

No, but he doesn't have to, he only has to speak to her employers and that's not an overreaction, it's quite a likely outcome.

"So Bob, any plans for the weekend? Doing something with your girlfriend"?

I wouldn't be too pushed about finding out whether or not he is available or not, just take your chances and ask him out anyway. A new girl at work once asked me out, I explained to her that my girlfriend would not be too hot on the the idea after which we both had a bit of an embarrassed smile. It made my day though I have to say (-:

I wouldn't risk getting his phone number through deceit via work. Using a phone number given to your workplace for a purpose that it was not intended for is illegal, (I doubt he will but) if he had a problem with it, you could lose your job and face criminal charges and a fine.

It's all highly unlikely but just be safe about how you get his number, don't add him on facebook without talking to him either.

I know it might be hard if you are shy, but I think you should just be direct and ask him if he wants to go to the cinema or something.

He probably wont, but I still wouldn't advocate breaking the law just to avoid being brave and asking.

Maybe just hand him a note in his change with a smile.

    something like,

    Hi,

This is X. I would really like it if we went out sometime if you are a free agent. If you are not interested for whatever reason just forget about this note and that will be that.
if you are interested call me.

    or something

I have no intention of texting him unless he gave me his number or I got it from a colleague I would look so bad and unprofessional it would feel wrong! I'm going to try chatting to him more and see how that goes! I'm supposed to be chatty to customers anyway and serve with a smile right?! :P good customer service lol! Could right my number on the back of the receipt though lol JK!! If all else fails and I make an ass of myself or he has a gf at least it will help develop my courage! :)

Would be really put off if it was worded like that. Would seem arrogant and entitled as fuk in a, "congrats, you're lucky, you get a chance with me!" way.

"You win a date with me, my treat"...das it mane!

I'd be super impressed. Everyone's different, but I'd be like "Wife. I've found a wife."
