630 watts is more than enough for that build.

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. It will be mostly for Gaming and design software(Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects). I'd say I won't be overclocking it at all

    why go with a 250ssd?
i would just get a 128ssd for os and programs etc,. half the price
then spend the xtra for the Haswell "k" processor and oc if you need for gaming.
also i would include an aftermarket cooler

Would there be a need for an aftermarket cooler if i don't intend on overclocking though?

the cooler with the i5 4690 is very poor.
if your doing heavy gaming sessions i would recommend getting an aftermarket cooler.

If he were going for an overclock he'd also need to change the motherboard for a Z97 Chipset rather than the H87 he has.

The stock cooler isn't terrible, it only gets up to ~75 Degrees under load. A 212 Evo will bring that down to about 50 but it's not at all necessary.

A 250GB SSD in this day and age should be standard. I've half filled my 500GB at this stage.

You might be overspending on the RAM, 8GB is €66 here.

A 630W PSU could be trimmed down a bit as well You'd get away with like a 400W but maybe look in the 450-500W to be safe, see if you can save a few quid there too.

Why did you pick that GPU in particular, you can get a 970 for €312 on VerSand, and a Windforce 3X for €330.

BluRays are nearly a dead media at this stage, €60 is a lot to be dropping there, I feel.

A 128gb SSD would be fine just for the OS and any additional software installed. Then have a seperate SSD for file storage if you like

That smacks of effort though :p

    Hi all,

Thanks for the replies everyone. I chose the blu ray drive because I have quite a sizeable blu ray collection so I would like the choice to play them on the build.

Thanks for the RAM upgrade think I might switch out to that RAM you suggested.

I just picked that 970 based on the reviews I read of that card. I assume all 4GB 970's cards are more or less the same?

I will be building the PC in the new year now i'd say as my car decided to conveniently break down on me yesterday so I have to prioritise my funds like a grown adult:pac::pac::pac::pac:

Sucks about the car, but I suppose getting to and from work is pretty important...

Re: All 970s being the same, this is largely true. Different manufacturers build to different qualities and different coolers work better/worse. They are priced differently so have a look at a few reviews and compare cooling vs noise and pick the cheapest you can stand.
