RIP Jessica Chambers

Mysteriously, (not really), the race of the suspects has not been stated despite one rumored to be in custody already:

Jessica Chambers, 19, was found burning near her car that was also engulfed in flames. She was flown to a hospital in Memphis but later died. Early autopsy results reveal that Jessica died from severe burns that covered 98 percent of her body.

Her father, Ben Chambers, said investigators told him his daughter was set on fire.

“When the fire department got there, she was walking down the road on fire,” he said. “Only part of her body that wasn’t burned was the bottom of her feet.”

He continued as he held back tears, “They squirted lighter fluid down her throat and in her nose, and apparently they knocked her out. She had a big gash on top of her head.”

Could you not just have put '19 year old woman' in the thread title? Seems like you're trying your hardest to make it about race. RIP anyway, hopefully it's true that they have one of the suspects detained already.

Unless this was a race related murder why would you mention the woman's race or the race of her attackers? It's like you're trying to make a racial issue out of an otherwise horrible murder.

Probably trying to create a correlation to the medias emphatic use of race as the motive for recent high profile deaths of black people.

That article also mentions she was in the process of leaving her abusive boyfriend - who happens to be black - maybe thats a more plausible explanation than black men targeting white women.

Am I the only one observing the fact that someone just tried to turn the burning to death of a young woman into a race spectacle for after hours drama and everyone else sees it as a minor grievance? I'm aware this is the internet but leave behind the media sensationalism, personal agendas and give empathy a chance.

Very unrelated beyond "look what a backwards old dump Mississippi is!", I see it's the only state which has the confederate flag on it.

Bit more googling found me that Georgia decided to put the confederate flag on their state flag in 1956, right near the start of the civil rights movement. Some critics (obviously) thought this was some kind of racist protest but it still managed to stick around until 2001, when they somehow managed to replace it with the ugliest flag I've ever seen

I'm absolutely sickened to think that one human being could do that to another.
Race/Skin colour aside, it's one of the most depraved horrible things I've ever read. As a parent to several young girls my blood ran cold reading that.

This world really does host some examples of evil that even hollywood couldnt dream up. My heart goes out to that poor girl and her family and friends.:( RIP
