Brake Pads - Swissstop

If the cartridge has a small screw towards the back of the pad, then yes, they will fit. If not, you will need to buy the cartridge as well as the pads. Once you have the cartridge, it is just a matter of buying pads from then on. Make sure you get the right ones for the material on your wheel. I use Swissstop GHPII on Alu wheels, and they are fantastic. Would not use anything else now.

Thanks yes they have the screws so will go with the GHPII pads. Will order up now from swimcyclerun.

Before you pull the trigger, just wait for one or two more replies ..... also, when you do order, 4 pads come in a pack!!! So you might only need to order the one pack, unless you want a second set for another bike.

discobrakes.com red pads have been mentioned here a few times, and the users of those seem very happy.

I use the swisstop pads as well. They're the business.

Did I read something on here about swissstop pads being hard on rims though?
From what I remember posters were recommending koolstop pads for performance and being kinder to alu rims.

No issues here, use the green ones on alu rims and the black carbon version on my tubs.

    The Swisstop are top notch..

Had the issue with an old Campag groupset (circa 1998) where thee Campag brake pads now don't fit the old shoes.

The solution I got (and this will work for the OP if the current shoes are not the right ones) is that BBB sell a set of 4 shoes and pads for approx 20 euro (the shoes are better quality than the original Campy ones-the pads are average at best-keep them for emergency spares) and they come with the screw tightener. You can then use any latest gen Shimano or SRAM pads.

The Koolstop seem to be a lot cheaper than the Swisstop but the SS were on swimcyclerrun recently for about 23 euro (Use PIRANHA5 for an extra discount)

On our lovely roads here in Wicklow, I have found that the stop distance on the Swisstops are far superior to anything else I have tried BUT you need to regularly check for embedded shards as they will destroy the pads and wear them down at an astonishing rate..

There was a note above about SS pads on tubs, I would presume-I thought the only current SS pads for carbon rims are the yellow ones..unless it is an alu brake surface. I believe they confusingly changed colour coding recently

Not just yellow, there are Black Prince ones for carbon wheels - they're much better than the yellow ones on my cantis.
