    Why technaly not ?

Except that I know it looks crap and sloppy and DIY if not done well.
    I've seen it done badly.
    I've seen it done neatly.

Manafactures recommend not within 1meter of a boiler = back boiler, gas or oil. ie a heat producing flame generated heating boiler. Not a coppor cylinder.

I came on this when customer called me out for a water leak n loft, 2 half inch pex pipes had been eaten by mice, then I discovered the expansion tank had no ball valve but a pex stop cock inside the tank left dripping water into the tank, this was to allow for the leak the "Plumber" had left down stairs under the floor..................

And yes, that is a half inch vent pipe, yes! with service valve attached.

Interesting discussion Scudo2 that's a nice bit of pipe work something I would like to do myself. The real point is, is it plumbing practice to use qualplex near a hot water cylinder.?
    Thanks for the reply

There's no reason you can't apart from how crap it looks. Using pex near a boiler however is a nono..

Absolutely not. The only place qualpex should look neat is when it's just about to be covered in concrete

As the pictures above betray, only cowboys would display qualpex, use it to get out of bother but professionals would rather spend the time doing ridged rather than a fellow pro seeing a job finished with pex.

Orignal question by op was it allowed in a hotpress ?
    Answer is YES
    But it can look crap.

I personaly think the introduction of plastic ruined the quality of the trade and turned it into a DIY I can do that concept.
    With bad reprocussions.

Question was can you use qualpex on a copper cylinder.

I'm pretty sure you can't use qualpex coming from the top of the cylinder. If the thermostatic failed it could melt the qualpex I thought the top of the cylinder is considered the same as a boiler as far as qualpex is concerned & it shouldn't be used with in a few feet?

I'm open to correction on that. ☺

The MI don't seem to have any restrictions on using plastic manky cack ****e pipe on cylinder pipework.

I think it's fair to say, anyone even half decent would never use it from a cylinder or boiler. There's always gonna be butchers who will though. Just cause it might work dosent mean it's right

    Personally I hate qualplex:mad: it's empowered a generation of fruitloops to live the dream:cool:, it's just a shame they don't come pre-clipped.

    Ahh Hell
Let all who have used qualplex neatly, please stand up and be shot.

    I'm guilty !

So what you are saying is that we should "clip" all fruitloops that use qualpex when fitting cylinders. :pac:

I wouldn't want to shoot you I'd prefer to build some scaffolding out of qualplex and watch you bounce around a while till the trapdoor opens.
