Would it be easier and cheaper to just fix 6 pillars to the ground and build like a barn roof say a foot above the existing shed as the roof that's there is wrecked and the walls on to are in poor condition! I'll try get some photos tomorrow as its hard to explain

Easiest of all to knock it and build a proper shed unless you have a attachment/aren't allowed to knock it

The walls are solid but would need work at the top to fix a roof to! by building above it would leave ventilation for cattle also? Or is it a daft idea

I dunno being honest...would it only be a half of each job...neither here nor there

I know its a pity to knock something with solid walls...but to use another anology its will be like a haybob...its day is gone and only half fit for the job it's intended nowadays

We repaired a roof of an old building... Roofing contractors did it and what they did was put a concrete bardge on top of the old wall and put a wall plate ontop.

They put up ply board on the inside to creat a shutter and used a laser level. Concrete was put up with a teleporter.

OP would you put the pillars inside or outside the old walls? If there is any cut stone in it, try and save it.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

I'm looking at re-roofing a stone shed at the moment. The walls are in great nick and solid. The roof is iron and I want to replace with a proper slate roof. The builder says it's best to put a concrete ring beam on top of the wall and fix the roof to that.

I'd put them out side! There is another wall higher at the back to I could fix the steel to this and make a kinda lean to ! No cut stone but the walks are grand no point knocking them is there? It would house 8 to ten weanlings
