How did that woman end up in front of a mic? I know she, along with Fiona Looney was part of G. Ryan's little harem all those years ago as was, toa n extent, John Creedon but Fiona Looney fecks off toi do some journalism every so often and I haven't seen her on TV or heard her input on radio in a long while. John Creedon has turned into a useful addition out in Montrose int he intervening years but Brenda was always sub par. She always just seemed to be winging it. I have a vague memory that she got the initial gig with Gerry as a winner of some competition or some such to give a member of the public their 15 minutes of fame, but I may be wrong. Where did she come from and, more importantly now with Mooney's show getting a good dose of the rat poison, where will she be going?

Fiona Looney pops up as a sports "expert" on Sean O'Rourke's show every once in a while, in between being a "playwright".

I would like to see Brenda being put out to pasture but it wouldn't surprise me if she became D'Arcy's sidekick.
Listening to the absolute shit on the radio right now, that is the Mooney Show, I sincerely hope we never hear of Brenda again.

Oh jebus! It's even worse than I thought! From http://www.herald.ie/lifestyle/id-love-my-own-show-that-would-definitely-be-a-goal-29534321.html
As a student of economics and history, and a leading light of DramSoc, Brenda was lined up to chat on air and, afterwards, Willie advised her to come up with a few ideas to contribute to the newly-launched Gerry Ryan Show. She went to the student bar with a friend, got drunk and came up with 10 ideas and, a few weeks later, following her final exams, she was out in RTE reporting for the show.

though it has to be said, fair play to the woman for turning what could have been a short term slot into a 25+ year gig in RTE!

i'm not going to listen to his show, I gave up on his today fm show years ago, but that is a horrible sounding combination !! just in-case i end up in an office environment where they listen to his show in the future (shudders..)

Sean Moncrieff is a better bet for radio at that time of day IMHO

He is, but sometimes you get tired of listening to lunatic Americans, ad nauseam.

They should put somebody up against Duffy in moncrieffs slot.

They used to have Brenda Power doing a similar show to Liveline on Newstalk but it didn't seem to catch on. The gravitational pull of Duffy was too much ;)

Heard a few minutes today, shocking rubbish. She really grates on me.

Two things bother me about Brenda..

    1. She slobbers embarrassingly over every man that comes in to studio..
    2. She fawns over every other person that comes in to studio, whether that be one of Louis Walsh's talentless rabble or somebody from Alan Hughes' panto..

    actually I forgot about. ..
    3. Her laugh...

    sorry one more...
    4. "Harvey does that Harvery does this"

I think that might have been Valerie(can't think of her second name), she was on the show for a couple of years.

The instant I hear the raw voice of Brenda the dial is turned. Radio 1 from 7.30 very weekday and then - bye!!! Brenda is on!!!

Its not nice to see someone lose there job but she should perhaps give a chance to someone who has completed a media course .I don't think they employ anybody in RTE from such a background.

Can't stand her - as soon as I hear that voice I can't turn the radio off quick enough.

    How did she?

Same reason Lottie Ryan is on the radio.

You mean her stunning wit, intellect, ability to discuss on one hand weighty political matters and on the other to speak about some heart warming general interest story? ;)

More free publicity for Mrs Brown's Boys on Mooney today ! Not a regular listener to the "show". From what I've heard so far today I won't be rushing back either ! If this is what afternoon public service broadcasting is about , can gladly do without - another waste of public money !

Jayus I never knew that! Although I think she is brutal to say the least, she deserves credit for staying power!

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Well, not a lot of love for Brenda but I think she was a good fit on the Mooney Show. Derek can be a bit fusty and unwilling to engage in subjects that don't directly affect him (I guess that's his on-air persona) and B is good as doing the kids stuff, family life, etc. Obviously, with Ray, who we know is an expert on everything, she's probably effectively redundant in that slot.

'I'd love my own show - that would definitely be a goal':eek::eek:

Looks like Lyric FM at 3pm for me from now on. Some relief from the drudge till 4.30 pm at least.

    I'm in the same boat.

I cannot abide Moncrieff or D'arcy. Both idiots with an exaggerated sense of their own intelligence. I have had to walk out of shops in the past, when Moncrieff's irritating voice assaulted my hearing.

The pair of them are like bratty teens whose smug adolescent opinions should have been nipped in the bud long ago.

Oh here, I'm going to just come out and admit it.

I'd prefer Brenda to either of them.

She is the perfect example of an unattractive Irish woman of a certain age so that ends up being her audience.

To everyone else she is a prattling fool discussing issues of zero importance.

BBC Radio 4 in the afternoons for me, The Archers at 2 pm, then The Afternoon Play, compared to Liveline etc it's a different planet.:)
