I'd call them to make 100% sure they will accept the deal on 4 bikes....

    quote from the website http://www.planetx.co.uk/news/planet-x-news/q/date/2014/12/04/4-for-3-on-just-about-everything

"Today we are launching 4 for 3 Mix and Match on Just about everything. That's on just about everything we sell that isn't already on a deal. You can use 4 for 3 to buy anything except our bundle offers, daily deals and custom build bikes. The only exception, is the fabulous, industry breaking, benchmark setting , the bike that made our competitors cry , the one and only £899.99 pro-carbon Ultegra - and that's full Ultegra , yes a full Ultegra Pro Carbon for £899.99 which is currently our Daily Deal"

Was a good idea, but sadly they foresaw this happening....

That reads to me that it's an exception from the rest of the deals..

    It's quite clearly tagged with the 4 for 3 banner/overlay here: http://www.planetx.co.uk/c/q/deals

And on its product page: http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/FBPXSLPULT6800/planet-x-pro-carbon-shimano-ultegra-6800-road-bike

I presume they mean if you buy the bike, they will let you buy 3 other items and give the cheapest free. I've tried adding 4 bikes to an order, it doesn't work.
The website is very unclear about this, as I've mentioned above.

I would be interested in this deal. The website does seem to give the impression it should be accepted.

I've been messing around with it and it does work just not for the 6800 Pro Carbon. You can put 4 Sram rival 22 Pro carbons in the cart you get one free. Tried with a fat bike, cross bike and sl pro and track bike and it works.

Would need to get 4 bikes at the same price to make it worth while to amount to 25% off. Coupon code last week was 20% with a lot less hassle. I'd possibly be interested in the cross bike if it was available in the flanders colour or a MTB but they only have the fat bike.

Sram force 22 rt57 is best value @ £999 but they don't have small or mediums in stock

Going to have a look and see if I can make it worth while to pick up a pompino frameset, wheels and what ever else to make it good value.

The promotion works on their sister site too:

No bikes seem to be in the offer with on-one possibly worth it for a frameset but it's hard to get the same value as the built bikes. May work out worth it for a frame fork and wheels.

    Hi there,
I am interested in buying 4 of these.

    http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/FBPXSLPULT6800/planet-x-pro-carbon-shimano-ultegra-6800-road-bike#reviewstab

Can i avail of the 4 for 3 if i do this?

Your website gives the impression that these are in the 4 for 3 deal.

Just to be clear...i would be buying these bikes for myself and 3 other
lads so they would be of varying sizes/colour depending on what they are
    interested,.
If you can come back to me with a definitive answer (hopefully yes) we can
    go ahead!
    Many thanks,
    Martin.

Just tested adding 4 of them to the basket and it works now. I really don't need one though....... Right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,522 ✭✭✭martyc5674

Out of pig iron I tried their site again... Added 4 mediums and it worked this time so they have obviously changed something!!!
The 4 were 2699 sterling plus postage is 2734.97
    Works out at 865€ each...
    Marty.

Can't imagine how I'd get our BTW lady interested in this ...

Edit: Marty you VAT registered by any chance?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,522 ✭✭✭martyc5674

I'm not VAT registered.. I'm a regular PAYE bloke!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,208 ✭✭✭T-Maxx

If you are eligible for the BTW and you are going ahead with this 4 for 3 you might as well try and use it on your bike purchase.

I was interested in getting something for next summer and the spec on that bike is unreal for the price. I cannot imagine I would find something equal to it next summer?

I have sent on pm as I am interested in the deal looks like I could be getting an extra crimbo present.

Have they clarified if different colours/sizes can be chosen?

I take it since it is England they would not fall under BTW

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,522 ✭✭✭martyc5674

Ok there is 3 of us so far. Deal closes tomorrow.
Have your colour size and phone number PMd to me should a 4th person participate.
I'm limerick the rest of ye are most likely dubs so I'd spin up half way to meet one or all of ye with them.
I'd expect a deposit from ye tomorrow if possible so I don't get stung(I've pmd ye)
Whatever price I get on exchange I'll divide by 4.
    Godtabh are you in????
    Marty.

There's no restriction on buying abroad for BTW unless you're stuck with one of the Bike To Work 'broker' scams.

Yeah, but being realistic I suspect unless you can find 4 people in the one workplace, and a quick acting HR/Finance dept, getting this with the benefit of BTW as well would still be out of reach, given this is a limited time deal.

I am also uncertain how being vat registered would help.

Can someone confirmed if the blue colour of the pro carbon is the royal deep blue or the light blue?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 240 ✭✭WAPAIC

Since this is the only colour I can see available in that frameset, I would assume this is it:

Not a fan of that blue. Prob black is the safest route. Does the gloss red have the carbon weave appearance or is it only on the black?

The way I'm thinking is that someone who's vat registered buys the 4 bikes and then allows the 3 others to be bought off him/her via the BTW scheme. My employer doesn't really want to deal with a currency conversion and besides I'm out of time with this deal closing tomorrow.

I actually quite like the blue it looks better in the flesh. Black is the only one with the carbon weave visible. Not a fan of the gloss black but the mat black looks nice. Have an older dark blue my self that's not available any more. White looks nice I know a few people with them but you need to like cleaning. Haven't seen to many reds around.

This is the best bargain of all I reckon £100 more but I think well worth it

    All,
Just off the phone to planet-X.
They said the Pro carbon with ultegra offer at 899 ended yesterday and it should have been removed from their site..
So looks like we were too late.
    Marty.

I'd push for them to honor the deal, it's still clearly on the website as an active offer.

    Typical PX bollox.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,522 ✭✭✭martyc5674

When on the phone i wasnt in a position to push them as im waiting on a colour and size from 1 participant still!!
The website however seems to still give a free bike as long as the 4th bike is cheaper than the others.
i am suggesting that we put in one bike with 105 groupset.
Works out at 860 each for the Ultegras and 740 for the 105 10 speed.(including delivery)
Anyone interested in a 105 at this price?
If so PM me the size and colour and ill place the order...worst they can do is cancel it!
    Marty.

    ah man.................
I spent ages looking for a new bike and finally settled on a PX, then my job said i couldn't do it under the BTW now going to "settle" on a Giant 1 Defy

i would have been interested in this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,520 ✭✭✭Alek

I'm 95% in for the 105 version. Give me an hour to discuss it with the better half and the bank.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,520 ✭✭✭Alek

There are times when 5% is enough to prevail.

    Unfortunately I'm out. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 708 ✭✭✭jodaw

Pretty bad that they will not honor the deal despite the fact that the exact offer is still active.

I am not sure what their margins are but surely 4 quick sales is better than no sales if even to clear stock
