    His show defined a
    generation.

Never listened to him. Did it sound like this?

"Hi, and welcome to the programme. A generation is a collective term for all the people living at about the same time, but it also means the production or creation of something."

Think you ment his show defined a degeneration of good radio

I find his tone tiring and negative, that laboured exhale he routinely does pi5ses me off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,207 ✭✭✭Murt10

As long as he doesn't reemploy Brenda Donoghue if he's taking over from Mooney, I might give him a chance,

That womans voice make me come out in goose bumps, I can't get to the switch station button fast enough.

No it generaly went like this....
'I'm Ray, I cycled/ran to work, i have great time for kids since Kate was born, I'm going to comment on something political/sexist/sad in the news today and to show how serious i am, I'll put the odd curse word in. Now i'll play a song, press that button there, no wrong one, a there it is, Good morning.'

I'll be honest. I used really like his show...but now I can't stand any more than 5 minutes of him. He can't interview for sh*t. Since he's had kids he likes to take the fun out of everything, he's the most boring man alive. He also loves his high horse.

I definitely won't be listening anyway.

His atheism takes up most of the day and at night he just likes a cup of tea.

Same as. Back in 2004, 2005 my day wasn't complete if I didn't have the radio at work and I missed the show. As you say, 5 mins of him is too much these days.

He's hardly be alone in his love of a good moan. Just thinking that he'll now follow Joe Duffy in the RTE schedule. That's a solid 2 and 3 quarter hours of moaning from Monday to Friday on RTE Radio 1.

Yeh his show started to resemble a younger Liveline a few years into it.

Christ that name takes me back!!!! She used to be a roving reporter for gerry Ryan show I'm sure.. My mam listened to that shıte religiously for years.. Many a day I went to school hungry, being in such a hurry out of the kitchen..

This news will not affect my life in the slightest.

But if there's some sort of transfer deal by which Mooney replaces Moncrieff on Newstalk, I'll start to panic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,163 ✭✭✭Shrap

Ooh, I like him! Is that controversial now? Hmm. Well, I couldn't get today fm for the last while since analogue went crappy in the Wesht and our broadband is also crappy, so I'm looking forward to hearing him on RTE1 instead of that gobdeen Derek Mooney. Yay!

But I'm old (too old for when he was on the den, even), and I liked fixit friday so what do I know. However, whichever poster put up that synopsis of his show nailed it. It's not like I can't see his faults - he's just less faulty than most of the other presenters.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,526 ✭✭✭Slicemeister

Used to listen to him a lot when he first joined Today FM, now it's a case of change over as soon as the news at 9 is over. Radio from 9 is a bit bland across most stations though.
