Best Value Satellite Provider

Been with 3 on the NBS for the last 2 years, and regularly used up the full 40gb allowance.

I knew it was being cut to 15gb but assumed some warning would be given, as we have now managed to burn through our 15gb in 10 days.

So I'm looking for a good provider of satellite broadband. I'm in the middle of rural Leitrim so it pretty much has to be satellite, and preferably not 3 after this farce with the NBS.

    Thanks

Satellite has caps too and is expensive, would you not just go for a higher allowance product with 3?

Are you on satellite with 3 now, or 3G?

Are there any fixed wireless providers in your area?

It's the size of the cap that's the issue, I know I can't get unlimited.

It's a router with a sim card in it, I thought it was satellite but I may be wrong

Imagine and Lightnet don't have coverage here, I'm not sure about Aptus yet

Satellite would be a step backwards from what you have now. Sounds like you're on 3G type mobile broadband

3mobile do 60GB per month for €35. If its performing well, then you're better off sticking with what you know.

Well, THREE does offer 60GB for €35.

Or you can exploit the usage of their mobile phone bundle with the "All you can eat" data allowance for €20, on a 1 month contract. It's technically "unlimited", and even though it says you'd be viable for a throttling past 15GB they don't really do that... I know of people using it downloading from 300GB to 2TB's worth of data.

I've even tried it out, streaming an event in 1080p HD for the entire weekend no problem.

I'll look into this! Never considered that.

    Thanks for all the suggestions

Are you in the South East? (Carlow, Laois?)

Aptus recently increased their cap on their broadband and it's grand considering how far into the country it tends to reach.

Had friends who had it for a while and thought it was grand bar some congestion and the measly (now defunct) cap.

    +1

This is the best mobile offer you can get hands down.

I've had it since it included free calls in the evenings and it's been great.

I now have 4G too which is an added bonus but the speeds aren't what I'd hoped.
