I've started swimming and wondering what Public pools are around? I've tried Bluepool in Monkstown which is good but the sessions are only 45 mins long. I also went to Mespil where you get 2 hours, but the pool is pretty small. Are there any others around worth visiting?

The 3 Dun Laoaghaire Rathdown County Council pools are listed here with the opening hours etc. (Monsktown, Meadowbrook and Loughlinstown)

45 minute sessions are the norm.

It's been quite a while since I was there, but Killiney Castle used to have a pay as you go option. Provided you go at a time that doesnt clash with lessons, you can stay as long as you want

Castle Park School in Dalkey is open to the public, google for the timetable (sorry, can't post links).

If you can go early in the morning the 45 minutes does not apply. you can swim until 8.45/ 9 from I think 6.30 in Loughlinstown or 7.15 Bluepool.

Try Markievicz Swimming Pool on Townsend Street, never too packed and I've often stayed in the pool for over an hour, then a quick sauna

Timetable here. It's a 50 minute swim though.

Note that the price has gone up since the timetable was published to €6 an hour. Also since the last time I was there it seems that they've significantly reduced the number of open swims, particularly in the evening, pity that.

DLR services timetables are bs!! for adult swims/lane swims

is there anywhere else in south dublin bar monkstown/loughlinstown/castle park school that actually have adult swim or lane swims at normal times?

I used a VIP pass at UCD on saturday. they dont do pay as you go or swimming pool membership only. bloody disgrace. the 50m pool was more or less empty!! so irritating
