    Anyone ever use them?

I am thinking of using them for a few months to give me some focus and a proper training programme for La Marmotte. Been talking to a few of the fellas and they're nice fellas and work with some very good athletes. Not sure if it would be worth the cost though.

What's the cost, might be worth using them to get started and then again after three months

What's direction do you want to go in? Road racing? If it is then the monthly would suit. What about a club? Some of them have a lot of guys that could help too?

Im still playing gaelic at the moment so its hard to totally commit to cycling. But after next year or year after I would be looking to race. Trying to change from a gaelic football body and mindset to a cyclists body is the hard part at the minute. At the minute I cycle Sat and Sun (about 100/120mile over the weekend with my club), Circuits on monday night with football club, boxing tues and thurs and Turbo (sufferfest) with a few mates on Wednesdays. Rest day on Fridays and sometimes another day or night if I feel wrecked and need another days rest.

My main focus for next year is La Marmotte in July. I have signed up for Wicklow and a few other 100mile+ hilly local sportives and I am making a trip to Lanzarote in April to climb Mt Teide. Don't really know what way to go about my training though. trying to shift the weight is the big aim for the next few months.

If you want to shift weight then long steady miles are the key. I shifted 20kg since start of May by just getting out on the bike.

I got the help of A1 Coaching for a month to get me in shape for my clubs Hamper Race. I never would have entertained coaching but i got into the prizes today. Delighted with myself and my coach.

Get coaching man, achieve yer goals.

What benefits did you find from having a coach for a month as opposed to self-coaching?

I think they have the credentials to actually back it up, if you feel you can get on alright through your own structured training fair play, but there is no need to slate a organisation that actually help athletes structure and best make time of their training so as to show improvements!!

Thats all some people need is a bit of structure to follow!

I knew if I self coached myself I wouldn't complete my training plan. And not sure how I would have designed a plan around my working week with commitments at the weekend also. A1 took a good look at my available time and made the most of what I had. It was also great to have someone to talk to as I train on my own and not always with a club.

Why for only one month with dig deep?

Training blocks are typically broken down into a one month period.
My goal was to be sharp for December so a month was all I needed (when I decided in November).
