Fibre router plugged into secondary socket

    I recently upgraded to fibre with Vodafone, and the first engineer couldn't install as the internal wiring wasn't up to spec (alarm cable?), and the primary socket was hidden behind a radiator. The second engineer fitted the new plate to the now accessible primary socket, but also mentioned he could have used a secondary one, with a small drop in reliability. I assumed I could switch over later after he left, but when I plugged in I got nothing. I'm now using a 25ft cable running across the floor.

    tl;dr

    What do I need to do to move the router from the main to a more convenient socket? Cheers.

    He'd have to have fitted a data point extension. You need to get vodafone to order one for you.

    I used the second port, no apparent issues in the last few minutes months

    YMMV, completely depends on your own internal setup and your distance from the cabinet.
