I thought there was a complete ban on all matches being shown on uk TV during the period of 15.00-17.00 on a Saturday? I see sky sports are showing live Spanish football now during this period?!

Only applies to English leagues. It's to keep up attendance

Are you sure? They didn't show the start of Real Madrid V Barcelona back in October, it was a 5pm kick off and Sky could only broadcast live from 515pm.

The blocked broadcasting hours are sorted out by UEFA. All members of UEFA have to respect the blocked hours of other members.

Afaik each UEFA member can chose a 2.5 hour period per week where no live football can be shown by a local national broadcaster. Last time I checked ours was during Sunday afternoon sometime

I haven't noticed the FAI signing up for blocked hours for a few years, unless the UEFA website's list is not the full table? http://www.uefa.com/news/newsid=19817.html

The number of associations listed with blocked hours has certainly been shrinking a lot recently.

Correct. The FAI haven't signed up for this.

Nor have the FAW, which is why S4C got away with showing League of Wales football during the blocked period on Saturdays also.
