I picked up one of these electric guitars guys from Gear 4 Music for about 100 euro including delivery.

Reviews say its a pretty good beginners guitar, and I have tried it out with Rocksmith (its main purpose in life for me !) and it seems to fit the bill. Obviously its not going to be a fender or whatever, but for learning it seems perfect and relatively robust. Delivery is fast as well, got it within 2 days which is pretty impressive for ireland !
