Just wondering if anyone on the legacy package which was sold as unlimited has been charged for going over the ridiculously low 300Gb download\upload limit.

I'm on the €40 package with 100 free minutes and have went over 300GB a few times not to be charged.

Seems to be hit or miss though, if you signed up before July you should be grand.

Thanks. I signed up in January and my usage chart shows X of Unlimited used whereas the new contracts appear to be X of 300 Gb used. I'd love to know if anyone on the old contracts has been charged when exceeding the 300 Gb.

I'm on an old contract sold as unlimited in August 2013 and renewed in September this year and my usage chart still shows unlimited.I was told when resigning up that all remained the same but to be honest I don't think the fup was mentioned.
Anyway I've still not been charged extra and we've never been under 300gbs.it is a
Concern though that one of these days a charge could appear.

How far would you have gone over the 300Gb? Would it have been thereabouts or well over?

I'm on the Simply Broadband Max €35\month since January so on the "X of Unlimited". I've never gone over the 300Gb yet.

I have queried them in the Vodafone forum about it today and am waiting a reply. I'm with them since this time last year. Im looking to see if I can get out of the contract and move elsewhere as it seems everyone is now liable for charges if they exceed the 300GB limit which seems ridiculous.

Eircom and Sky both offer true unlimited. Vodafone will be shooting themselves in the foot with this policy but their reps seem adamant on the forum.

Anyone on the old packages should be able to get out of contract, Vodafone are ceasing to provide a telephone service on these lines from sometime this month. Look it up on there website in t&c and then customer notifications.

Thanks for that. They are ceasing to provide a telephone service? I have that as part of my package and they are still advertising packages with phone services on their website?

Wonder how you'd cope if you could only get 20-60GB download caps with the only available form of "broadband" being Mobile, like meself... :pac:

I've just seen and advert for Vodafone Simply Broadband - €35 permonth, up to 100Mbps, unlimited broadband usage, Free Installation and Free Modem. Has anyone availed of this offer??? Is it any good??

I have no broadband/wifi, house is wired for Eircom phone line but never activated, rang before and the cost was too much even before we had broadband. Is there costs involved even before we start our contract with Vodafone? They called to the house over Christmas to say we are Fibre ready and if I signed at the door special offer, didn't as I wouldn't sign up for anything at the doorstep.

    Thanks for any help :)

Works well for me. Hardwired I get around 95Mb down and 18 Mb up, with around 70Mb down and 18Mb up on Wifi. The router isn't great to be honest and you will probably have to commit to an 18 month contract. Also watch out for the so called unlimited offer. This is in reality 300Gb per month. The guys at the door doing the hard sell wont tell you this. Your speeds will also be dependent on your proximity to the fibre cabinet in your area. The great thing for me is that you don't have to commit having a phone as I already have a VOIP number with blueface.
