My mini driving cab adventure

..as opposed to my minicab driving adventure , which is a whole other thing.
To distract myself from actually doing my college projects (which would have been the smart thing to do) I set myself the challenge of building a mini sitdown cab for my kids.Mainly to play driving games on , but also to play a few MAME drivers like Outrun or Pole Position. The other part of the challenge was only to use things that were going to be thrown out soon (well for the most part.
Initially I was able to cobble together a basic frame from an old booster seat , an IKEA freestanding clothes hanger , a ps2 steering wheel , a set of buzz controllers ,an old monitor and half a laptop. The monitor stand was taken apart and the vertical part bolted on to the ikea unit , the laptop body fits under the 'top' of the hangar , and there's a naturally placed bar there to hold it in.
(I temporarily had a plastic box that the steering wheel was sitting on , I built a basic wooden frame for it shortly after.
    (excuse the mess)

I fastened the whole thing together, put a solid base under the pedals and seat ,put the os back on the laptop, set the controls up with joy2key, added a copy of midtown madness and mame , and added MALA running as a frontend.

Next up was fitting the buzz controllers so I took the seat armrests apart , cut part out to fit the controllers and screwed them in (still need to tidy them up)

After that it was a case of making up two plywood sides that could clip on or off , knocking together a front and back , painting everything up and hiding the bits with duct tape holding them together;)

This is my daughter taking it for a test drive (that's midtown madness , but she spent a lot of virtual coins shortly after getting to the second stage in ChaseHQ)

Last bit for now is to get some vinyl for the sides and back.I was half thinking of the PolePosition ones (which are on a site I discovered is Steves ;)).anyone reccomend a cheap place to get them printed up , ideally as something I can stick on , or have a better idea for what to put on it?

    Never!
Or at least only if she does something really bad, :)

I'm in second year but finding it really difficult to find the motivation to drive through the traffic 3 nights/week into town, I don't think I'll get all the modules finished this year so I'll probably be in some of your modules next year :D
