SD card for a garmin Virb

Ok, this isn't strictly a cycling related Q but I'm looking to get a micro SD card for a Garmin Virb Elite. Looking here I need a Class 1 card or UHS class 1. Anyone know how large recording in HD is, say for 10mins? If the files are huge I'll want a card that transfers fairly quickly to the laptop.

Shop around and get what you can afford as long as it is Class 10 or UHS 1 you should be grand,
Min I'd go for is 32GB but if you where looking to record full HD for 2,5 hours you'd probably want a 64GB card.

Do I need an adapter for the SD card for getting the video onto the laptop or can I just use the USB cable, connect it to the Virb/laptops and it is recognised as a drive?

Yes!

I just plug mine into the laptop (Surface 3 running Windows 8.1) and it pops up as a recognised drive. then download to edit using the Garmin software.

They normally come with the adapter. If your computer has USB 3 a USB 3 card reader (Lexar one is the best) will give you the fastest transfers even if you have an internal reader they are often slow. Then again the extra expense to shave a few mins off isn't generally worth it for most people.

I've used aliexpress a lot recently and it's all been good. No import taxes either!

Let us know how's the card I'd rather pay triple that for the peace of mind.

Well, I guess loosing a video of your ride is not as much or a problem as having no pictures from somebody's wedding that you've been paid for - but still can be frustrating.

(I deal with cases like these at work. They do happen.)
