So, half way into work this morning on the bike I realised that I had thrown on an old pair of runners and had forgotten to bring the ones I normally use for running. I really want to go for my lunchtime run but at the same time don't want to risk an injury by running in really worn out runners.

My question (if it can be answered at all) is how much effect one run in worn out runners would have ? I don't have much of a history on injury - calf problem earlier this summer & slight ankle problem 2 years ago being the height of it.

Would ye take a chance ???

Yeah sure. I wear dead runners often especially in winter. Better to wear a dead dry pair than a wet pair.

Yes now and again I'd wear a really old pair. No big deal imo.

I do it every so often on shorter runs, no biggie - I wouldn't fret too much if I were you
