A friend of mine is at a crossroads. He has a PhD in the environmental science field, and has spent the past 5 years working as a researcher in a university abroad. He moved back to Ireland earlier this year, but can't seem to find work. He has been mainly looking in academia, as this is a world he's familiar with. However, I can't help but feel there may be work for him in the private sector. The problem is he doesn't seem to know where to look. Could anybody recommend a career advisor, or recruitment agent he could talk to, who might be able to suggest a career path to him?

I would suggest the major consultancies, such as Deloite. Also, some of the engineering consultancies. If he wants a clean break from science and academia, possibly the finance houses (I.e. stock brokers, etc.) who do research
