Not for the feint-hearted classic lover!

Jon Hunt, a UK billionaire who founded Foxtons estate agents, is taking legal action against H.R. Owen Dealerships, asking for £700,000, or about $1.1 million / €880,000, in compensation, including damages.

His son had taken delivery of the 1971 Mirua SV from the garage right after a service was completed. Less than a mile later, the rare Italian exotic exploded in flames and was completely destroyed.

Hard to imagine that burnt shell has a $300,000 value!

Saw this in the paper. Apparently he's claiming they put the wrong set of spark plugs in it!

It could be rebuilt though with hand made panels and parts and possibly even the engine rebuilt. With the value of them Im surprised it isn't worth more.
What is shocking is just how dear Miuras are now. When new they had difficulty selling any. Its funny most people have no interest in used cars but if its rare , desirable and no one else can have one watch the price rocket:eek:
Lovely cars , I saw one some months back at the classic car show in D4.
Apparantly not great to drive and prone to catch fire with the carbs spitting out petrol.
Its actually the insurer who has paid out suing the garage to get reimbursement , but suing in the name of the owner. The spark plugs would have made no difference but perhaps the carbs were adjusted and too much raw fuel came out over the hot engine? More likely just bad luck, with their fire catching history Im surprised any insurer would want to touch one without a premium of say 1/5th the value!

Video of it if you can bare to watch.

I suppose buying the burt out shell would entitle you to re manufacture one legitimely.

Watched Jay Leno's video on his Miura. It used to belong to Dean Martin's son who drove it to school. The sump got cracked and it wasn't worth repairing and that's how Leno got it.

To think now a burnt out one will be repaired shows how attitudes and values have changed!

This is water. Inspiring speech by David Foster Wallace https://youtu.be/DCbGM4mqEVw?si=GS5uDvegp6Er1EOG

That fella is the person believed to be behind the 'TaxTheRich' youtube video's (If you've not seen them, its worth a look. Sliding Rollers through fields, tug of wars with F50's, fiery burnouts with XJ220 etc) so the money to have the Miura restored should be no issue. The though of what many would consider to be a total loss still being worth hundreds of thousands make me think of the Bugatti that was pulled out of a lake after nearly 80 years and still sold for over €200,000

Sen man I would be sick if that happened to me
To be fair tho it's ideal for someone who would like to do a full restoration and start from the shell up
You would defo need a few euro put away for it
