Will the guards trace fake Facebook pages that keep adding me?

I get fake friend requests on Facebook. They have usually been made a few minutes prior to adding me and have no other friends therefore they have clearly made up the page just to add me.

This is becoming a regular occurrence and I usually write to them telling them how sad and pathetic they are, the message gets seen but they never write back. Most of the time the pages get deleted then but I've just been added again and have wrote to them.. they've seen the message but haven't deleted the page.

I have a feeling who it could be. There's two sadcases in particular who stalk my life and I'm sure it's one of them.

If I went into the guards is there anything I could do about it or would they just laugh at me and tell me they've bigger fish to fry? Doesn't this all count as stalking and harassment though?

I'm really getting sick of it now and I want the proof of who it is.

Don't respond. Ignore them. They'll get bored eventually.

Change your facebook privacy settings so you can't be searched for / added until they give up should work and it means you don't have to go through the bother of talking to the guards.

You could also attempt to recover their accounts, and facebook will show you that the email as been sent to ****dj***@gm**.com where the full email has stars over certain bits. if they've used alternate versions of their own email you could work out who it is... but that's a bit messy

block them, also change your facebook password and don't use open wifi

go through your friends list to see if any one you don't know added themselves

I think Facebook has changed its setting so you can't chose who can search for you anymore. And I have changed it that so absolutley no one can add me for awhile, then when I changed it back I started getting all the fake requests again.

I've now changed it to "only friends of friends" can add me but that still doesn't stop them they just add a few people who they know I'm friends with then add me.

I just tried the account recovery thing... The email address appears similar to the name of the account that just added me so its likely that email has just been made and its fake too.

But because you've been responding, they know that they're getting to you.

You can change your settings so they can't send you friend requests unless they are friends with some of your friends.

First, I would change the privacy settings back to friends of friends. Only accept requests from people you know. Go through your friends list and make sure you are only friends with people you know. Limit all your posts and pictures etc to friends. If you recieve requests from people you dont know or fake profiles just add it to blocked users.

Stop sending them a message. the more they know they are getting to you the more they will keep doing it.

If its affecting you all the time and keeps happening shut your fb account down for a while.

I haven't responded for months before and still they add me. I've tried it all.

Have you tried not using Facebook? It isn't compulsory any more.

To be honest, I'd be a little disappointed if you didn't get a good whack of the pepper spray.

If all they are doing is sending you friend requests I doubt the guards would investigate. If you're being threatened or abused then they should.

If you haven't tried his already, you could change your display name (a lot of people use the Irish versions of their names for this reason) and the email that the account is registered with (you can search for people by email address on Facebook). If they still persist after this, it's likely that it's someone who knows you in real life and not just a bot setting up fake pages.

Honestly though if they're just sending you friend requests it's not really that big a deal is it... A bit strange certainly, but I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

The fact that you haven't even considered closing your Facebucket account, or at least reopening one under a pseudonym, says to me that you're not really 'sick of it'. When you say you 'want the proof of who it is' it appears that rather than being 'sick of it' you're attempting to ratchet up the drama of the whole issue.

Don't knock it. At least you're popular :)

Albeit with psychos, weirdos, stalkers and pervs, but popular nevertheless ;)

People say this; but I disagree.

There still isn't anything out there that even comes close, for the people I know personally. My Grandmother is on Facebook, my parents are on Facebook, my sisters are on Facebook, my nephews are on facebook, my cousins are on Facebook.

I don't like Facebook very much. When Google first launched their alternative, I jumped on it like white on rice. I showed everyone I knew how to set it up, you could even set it up so any post you did on Google also went on Facebook...but eh, nobody joined.

I have small groups of friends/family that use other stuff; but it's always just one or two of them. My nephews were really into Twitter for a while, I dunno if they still are, but I couldn't find them on Twitter without them telling me about it.

Facebook is like the online equivalent of the Phone Book for everything I do. All of these other sites do other handy things and some are popular, but there isn't anything else that works for what I need from Facebook.
