Questions about Marriage

    Hi,

I am with my fiancee for nearly 10 years now. At the moment we both live in Mexico. We are thinking of getting married soon (1-3 years), but have a few questions before we do, that I hope you can answer.

    - What do you need to do to get married in Ireland with a Mexican?
    - Would she need to be a resident or could she just be on a holiday?
    - Is the marriage recognised in Mexico or elsewhere in Europe?
    - Does she have to take my surname?
    - Can a civil ceremony be done or must it be in a church?
    - If we have kids in Ireland, after we are married who would have more rights?

    Regards,
    Darren

You need to give notice, in person, and pay a 200 euro fee.

    Don't know this.

    Yes, internationally recognised.

    No

    Either, both are legal.

You would both have equal rights.

They will seek proof of address when you register intent so she will need to be resident not just on holidays.
