Ok, after completing a leaders course at work recently that outlined leadership qualities. I would have Brian o driscoll. Humble, passionate, works hard, confident, down to earth.

I don't know the guy personally, but he comes across as someone who resonates with me and who I'd like to aspire to.

This is probably sacrelig' coming from a man from Munster :pac:

Denis O'Brien. Not all there, ethically speaking, but I think he has an inspirational sense of drive and ambition, and he does a huge amount of philanthropic work that everyone likes to ignore, and many of us would not bother with if we were in his position.

We shouldn't ignore the Tribunal findings made against him either by the way, but he is absolutely vilified in a way that seems totally extreme.

I think plays a character in the media for publicist like Simon Cowell. Ryanair basically spent nothing on advertising for years, but constantly in the media thanks to Michael "views" and 'opinions' on controversial matters. AFAIK every year he speaks to Trinity students for free, as he went there.

Regardless of whether you like his character or not. He has turned a ****ty Irish airlines, into one of the largest airlines in the world. He supports thousands of jobs directly and makes Ireland affordable to get to for millions of tourists. He did it without bribing anyone like another famous Irish Business man. But he did it through hard work and determination.

Much can be said of the four but I think their drive an determination to make Ireland a better place for their respective generations was inspiring.

True I mixed him up with ernest walton for some reason. Walton was the first person to spilt an atom. So we can be proud of him.

I had it suggested to me before that as I am Protestant, I can't really be Irish. My answer to that is Wolfe Tone.

Who on earth suggested that to you? He probably thinks his cousins in America aren't real Americans because they don't dance around totem poles.

There are other answers just as good, like Hyde, Walton, Kathleen Lynn etc. ( and Arthur Guinness! Did you ask him if he drank non-Irish porter? :D )
When Bob Tisdall chose to run for Ireland, winning Olympic gold, while he was qualified to represent at least two other countries, nobody questioned his Irish credentials.

Well.. at the time I only had Junior Cert history in my head, so seemed like a great answer then.

As much as I dislike Dev, he grew up in Ireland. The fact he was born in America doesn't change that.
