hi im driving an old 02 opel zafira 1.6 at the mo.
im seeking advice on 7 seaters that have bigger room inside.but something thats not gonna cost the earth to run etc:).

the kids are getting bigger at an alarming rate at the mo:(, height wise etc and are finding the back seats too tight.

i know galaxys/trajets are alot bigger but would they cost too much more in tax/insurance/running costs/reliability

ive 5 years ncb. but can only pay tax every 3 months:o.

im looking to try get a newer(ish) car too.

any thoughts or examples please thank you

trajets are actually good imo, they are well proportioned looking and have plenty of room. the petrol and diesel engines, both 2 litre are fairly robust, there were some problems with the diesel engine gearboxes, but most should have been picked up on while they were still in warranty, they can be a bit fond of tyres too, but so can any car that size really.

sure they are Korean and don't have much panache, but if you want a functional, practical 7 seater family lugger you could do worse. you could probably get a 06 this weather for 3 or 4k i'd say.

    I'd have an Alhambra/sharan/galaxy over a Trajet.

    Those diesel Trajets eat flywheels.

Sorry to drag up an old thread but as I'm having lots of trouble lately with d zafira I'm def gonna get another 7 seated. Bigger too if possible. I'm looking at seat Alhambra. Would they be a reliable 7 seater? In your opinions.
Low engine size to keep tax/insurance costs down

I was in the same boat, we really wanted a Galaxy but the tax is high on them and the models available all had really high mileage. We figured the best we would get would be a 2008 with 80-90k Miles, and tax at €580 (I think). So, we settled for a Grand Picasso. Similar in size to Zafira but a nicer car. 3rd Row are easily accessible and tax is 280 p.a. mileage 35k and same price as an 09 Galaxy.

Moral - for size, Galaxy unfortunately, but running costs are higher, apparently - tax and fuel (not sure about maintenance).

Is that the C4. what do you think of it so far

yes, C4 Grand Picasso. Its a good car with a few toys. its not fast - you have to remember its a 7 seater, not a performance car. Probably getting 6l/km or 47 mpg, its the auto model with paddles. I like it, comfy to drive. the computer/ dash is a bit complicated but how much of it do you really need.

I would recommend it, but we only have it 6 weeks or so.

Fits 3 seats across the middle which was a must for us.

I would say the Galaxy is a better car but hard to find with low mileage and more expensive to but and run.
