classic car shows and regional motor shows are becoming commom place these days but no sign of 4x4 shows ? i went to what i thought would be 4x4 show for charity in ardmore co. waterford ealier in year but it was about 30 run of the mill vehicles and nothing else !

surely manufacturers , independent specialists and parts/ accessories specialists from eire and uk would be up for it ?

4x4 clubs could attend as well as the most interesting 4x4s in country and there could be off roading competitions also.

    anyone interested ?

There was one several years ago organised jointly with a military vehicle group but it's not been repeated. Various groups have held informal get togethers at off road centres that some suppliers have attended and there are regular off roading weekends but AFAIK there's nothing in the pipeline for a formal show at the moment.

Most of the 4x4 social scene is covered by various FB groups and on 4xforum.net

One of the problems here which is common to many interests is too many people have fallen out with other in the past and won't work together!

Like every other hobby, - it's a simple question of population density and the numbers not adding up to a profit for the organisers or display teams.
Even at the height of the building boom, most of the "self build" shows lost money. 4x4 enthusiasts are still a smallish number of people here.

Aside, - lots of people (me included) get offended by people referring to the ROI as "Eire". Bitta history with the "mainland" don't ya know.

And then there's the factor, that 4x4 people rather go offroading than showing off their vehicles :)

So, if you want to see heavily modified 4x4's or a nice selection of different ones, you might want to go to a greenlaning or offroading day :D

4x4 shows are generally different anyhow. In the UK, there are a good few events. But they are Overlanding shows, that more exhibit modifications or destinations. Sure, the clubs show vehicles, too. But it's a massive mix of things. Not a big enough market for that here.
