    Hi,

I've a strange one. I've have an oil leak which seem to be coming from the oil filter housing. I noticed it after I service it back in May. I changed filter and o ring. Oil was still appearing on driveway. I properly torqued the cap. It's still leaking Has anyone seen this before. Not sure if I should replace the oil filter cap or the whole housing.

i take it its a paper element with a black plastic top ,is the oil leaking between plastic and metal housing as it could be a wrong size seal in packet and when fitted having lubed it for easier tightening leaks/weeps,i have seen wrong sized seals included.

I've had the car parked in the driveway for a few days (driveway is on incline) and the oil is on the driveway. I inspected the seal and it looked fine. It's a Mann filter so I'd expect it to be ok. I've lost the soundproofing padding due to the leak. I had to dump it.

Funnily enough I replaced my oil filter (paper one similar to the Passat) a few months back on the A4 and it was also a Mann one. When I drove it out of the garage there was a small pool of oil under the car. The leak was from the o ring so I just put back the old o ring from the older filter- Problem sorted.
