Would it be a good idea to have a competition to see who comes up with the best design and idea of what should replace the old cross on Ireland's highest peak.

There's some great sculptures and artists here in Ireland.

Maybe something that encompasses all aspects of our heritage.

    Why ?

Are you being particially obtuse or something else?
This is hardly the right forum for such a suggestion for one. As well there has been a air of sneering triumphalism on the knocking of that Cross, accident or not. If not, then this sectarian attack on one section of the community will not be the grounds for any sort of "encompassing" foundation of any new structure.

It's going to be put back up again, so whatever one's views on it, this is really a pointless discussion.

Good idea. It would have to be something really big cos then it would be more enjoyable to cut it down :pac:

You'd imagine that there's a 95% chance the cross is just going to get welded back together. Failing that nothing will be put up.

Glad the cross has been replaced.

Cutting it down was gross vandalism
